Civics and history

Over the last several years, Midgard has published a series of ground-breaking civics and social studies books, including teacher’s guides with lesson plans, that have made an impact in schools across the country. The content is accessible and entertaining, engaging middle grade students with humor and humanity. Our Civil Discourse book is an overview of our value system as it evolved throughout history and as it applies to the moral, ethical and legal contexts of today. Our program for the study of the U.S. Constitution is prepared like an “owner’s manual,” allowing students to feel invested in our political system. Other books include a review of world history and a novelistic approach to American history. Additionally, we have a book of primary sources for students to evaluate history first hand, and, to have fun, we offer a book framing major historical events as mysteries to be solved. Each book is beautifully illustrated and includes a teacher’s guide with lesson plans, assessment tools and teaching techniques for a variety of learning styles.
